Delete your Bloom Space account
This page explains how to request deletion of your Bloom Space account (the mobile app published on Google Play and the App Store) and the data associated with it, what we delete, and what we keep — and for how long. For broader detail on how we handle your information, see our Privacy Policy.
1. Delete your account from inside the app (recommended)
The fastest way to delete your account is from inside Bloom Space on the device where you are signed in:
- Open the Bloom Space app and sign in.
- Tap your profile avatar (bottom-right tab) to open your profile.
- Tap Manage.
- Tap Manage Account.
- Scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap Delete Account.
- Confirm the action. If you have two-factor authentication (TOTP) enabled, enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app when prompted.
After you confirm, your account enters a 30-day grace period:
- You are signed out on every device immediately.
- All of your content (posts, clips, stories, comments, personas, sanctuary memberships) is hidden from everyone else immediately.
- You can cancel deletion at any time during the 30 days by simply signing back in with the same credentials.
- If you do not sign back in within 30 days, your account and associated data are permanently deleted as described in section 3.
2. Request deletion by email (if you can't sign in)
If you have lost access to your account and cannot complete the in-app steps above, you can request deletion by email. Send a message to privacy@bloomspace.app from the email address registered to the account, and include:
- The subject line: Account deletion request.
- The email address or sign-in identifier on the account (Google or Apple sign-in).
- Any persona handles you remember using on the account, if known.
- A short statement that you are the account owner and you are requesting deletion of the account and associated data.
We will verify ownership before processing the request. We aim to acknowledge requests within 5 business days and complete deletion within 30 days of verification, subject to the retention exceptions in section 4.
3. What is deleted
When deletion completes, we permanently remove the following data tied to your account:
- Your account record — email address, sign-in identifier (Google ID / Apple ID), date of birth, hashed credentials, two-factor secrets.
- All of your personas (up to 4), their handles, display names, bios, avatars and per-persona settings.
- All content you created: posts, clips, stories, voice-room recordings, comments, reactions, polls, attachments and uploaded media files (including originals and transcoded variants in object storage).
- Your direct messages (DMs), message reactions, read receipts and typing state. Copies on the recipient's side may persist until the recipient deletes their own copy.
- Your sanctuary memberships, follows, blocks, mutes and search history.
- Your devices, push-notification tokens, session tokens, last-known IP records and device fingerprints.
- Profile preferences, theme settings, accent color and any in-app personalisation.
- Your record in our search index and recommendation caches.
4. What is retained, and for how long
A small amount of information may be kept after the account is deleted, only where it is strictly necessary. The categories and maximum retention periods are:
- Soft-deletion holding period — up to 30 days. While your account is in the grace period, the account record is retained in a deactivated state so you can cancel the deletion by signing back in. After 30 days it is permanently removed.
- Encrypted backups — up to 90 days. Deletions propagate across our primary systems within 30 days. Copies of deleted data may persist in encrypted, access-controlled backups for up to 90 days, after which the backups are rotated and the data is unrecoverable.
- Abuse-flagged direct messages — up to 12 months. If a message you sent or received was reported for abuse, harassment, or other safety violations, the flagged message and minimal context may be retained for up to 12 months for safety review and appeals, then deleted.
- Safety, fraud and legal records — as required by law. Records related to terms-of-service enforcement (e.g. ban records used to prevent re-registration), fraud and abuse investigations, child-safety reports made to NCMEC or equivalent authorities, law-enforcement requests, and material under legal hold may be retained for as long as required by applicable law or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
- Aggregated and anonymised analytics — indefinitely. Statistics derived from your activity that have been aggregated or irreversibly anonymised so they no longer identify you may be retained indefinitely. These cannot be linked back to you or your account.
For the full retention table by data category, see Privacy Policy § Retention.
5. Deleting a single persona instead of the whole account
Bloom Space supports up to four personas per account. If you only want to remove one persona — and keep the account itself — open Manage → Personas in the app and tap Delete on the persona. A deleted persona enters a 14-day recovery window during which you can restore it; after that window it and its content are permanently removed.
6. Questions
If you have any questions about account deletion, what we delete, or what we retain, email privacy@bloomspace.app. EU/UK residents may also contact our Data Protection Officer at dpo@bloomspace.app.
