You are not one person online. You are a colleague, a friend, a fan, a family member and — at two in the morning — someone with opinions about a TV show nobody at the office has heard of. Mainstream social media asks all of those people to share a single profile, a single audience and a single feed. Personas are Bloom Space's answer, and this guide explains how they work.
What a persona is
A persona is a complete public identity inside your Bloom Space account. Each one has its own:
- display name and handle
- avatar, cover photo, bio and accent colour
- display-name font (choose from sixteen)
- followers, and the accounts it follows
- Personal feed and presence in Explore
- posts, moments, clips and conversations
You can have up to four personas per account. Switching between them takes one tap from your profile menu, and whichever persona is active is the one that posts, replies and messages.
How personas differ from a second account
Second accounts are the workaround people invent when an app only allows one identity. They come with all the friction you would expect: separate logins, separate notification settings, separate security, and the constant risk of posting from the wrong one.
Personas keep everything that is useful about a second account — a distinct public face and audience — and remove the rest. One login. One set of security settings. One place to manage notifications. A one-tap switch instead of logging out and back in. For everyone else, your personas look and behave like independent profiles. For you, they are simply rooms in the same house.
Privacy between personas
This is the part people ask about most, so here it is plainly: Bloom Space does not publicly link your personas to each other. Followers, profile pages and search results never reveal that two personas belong to the same account. Someone who follows your photography persona has no way to discover your family persona from inside the app.
There are two narrow exceptions, both written into our terms: a credible threat to someone's safety, or a valid legal order. And personas never shield anyone from moderation — the community rules apply to the account behind them, which means a persona used to harass someone puts every persona at risk.
Why this changes how you post
The technical term for what a single profile does to you is context collapse: every audience you have is flattened into one, so you post for the lowest common denominator, which usually means not at all. Personas restore context, and the effect on how it feels to share is bigger than it sounds.
- Work-you can share thoughtful updates and industry news without a single meme in sight.
- Friends-you can be loud, silly and specific, because only your friends are watching.
- Hobby-you can post twenty photos of the same plant to people who genuinely want twenty photos of the same plant.
- 2am-you can write the long caption.
Because each persona follows its own people, your feeds stop being a blend of everything. Open the persona you are in the mood for and the feed matches it.
Setting up your first extra persona
- Open your profile menu and choose to add a persona.
- Pick a name and handle. Handles are unique across Bloom Space, so grab the one you want early.
- Choose an avatar, cover photo and one of the sixteen display-name fonts — this is your chance to make it feel different from your other personas.
- Follow a few people and join a sanctuary or two from this persona so its feed has a life of its own.
- Post something. The first post from a fresh persona is oddly liberating.

A few ways people use personas
- Creators keep a public creator persona for their work and a private one for friends, without maintaining two accounts.
- Students separate a classmates persona (project chat, campus sanctuaries) from a home persona.
- Small business owners run a persona for the shop and a personal one for themselves, switching in a tap when a customer message arrives.
- Anyone with a niche obsession gives it a persona of its own, follows a hundred like-minded people, and finally has a feed that is entirely about the thing.

Can I move a post from one persona to another? No — each post belongs to the persona that created it. Choose the persona before you post.
Do people get notified when I switch personas? No. Switching is private to you.
Do personas share a message inbox? No. Each persona has its own conversations, so the people who know one version of you never appear in another's inbox.
Can I delete a persona without deleting my account? Yes. Deleting a persona removes its profile and content; your account and other personas are unaffected.
