A sanctuary is your group's own home inside Bloom Space — invite-only by default, organised into channels and threads, with events and live voice rooms built in.
Group chats get chaotic. Public servers get overwhelming. Forums feel abandoned. Sanctuaries sit in the calm middle: a private space for a friend group, a class, a club, a team or a fandom, with just enough structure to keep conversations findable and just enough moderation to keep them kind.
Each sanctuary has its own channels grouped into categories, threaded replies so side conversations do not swamp the main room, an events list for meetups and watch parties, and live voice rooms members can drop into without turning on a camera. You can join up to thirty sanctuaries per persona.
New members join through an invite code or link shared by someone already inside. There is no public directory to be discovered from unless a sanctuary's owners choose to make it public and discoverable by handle. That single default changes the tone of a space: people show up because they were welcomed, not because an algorithm routed them there.
Channels keep topics separate — announcements, general chat, planning, off-topic — and categories keep the channel list tidy as a community grows. Threads let a conversation branch without derailing the room. Events give recurring plans a home, and voice rooms turn a text channel into a live conversation in one tap.
Moments and clips can be shared inside a sanctuary too, so a community's inside jokes stay with the community rather than on your public profile.
Every sanctuary has its own community rules, shown to members when they join. Owners and moderators get the practical tools — mute, kick, ban, delete a message — and hosts can moderate voice rooms in real time. Behind that sits Bloom Space's platform-level Trust & Safety team: real, trained reviewers handle escalations, and automated systems never issue permanent bans on their own.
Sanctuaries can offer paid memberships powered by Petals, Bloom Space's in-app currency, alongside tips. That gives a creator, a coach or a small publication a private home for their supporters with payouts built in — no third-party plug-ins required. Learn more on the creators page.
