Direct messages are where real relationships happen, and where most apps quietly turn up the pressure: read receipts you cannot switch off, typing indicators that demand an instant reply, inboxes flooded by strangers. Bloom Space messages are built to feel like talking to a friend, not servicing a queue.
Send text, photos, videos, files and voice notes. Reply to a specific message, react, and pick a wallpaper and bubble style for each conversation. Replies to moments land here too, so a fleeting photo can become a real exchange.
Honest by default
If someone screenshots a private conversation, Bloom Space posts a visible notice into the chat. It is not a lock — nothing can truly stop a screenshot — but it keeps both people honest. Teen accounts (13–17) cannot receive messages from strangers at all, and the platform never uses your DMs to train advertising or recommendation models.
Sealed chats
For the conversations that deserve an extra layer, a sealed chat is locked with a PIN set by both people. The conversation appears blank until the PIN is entered, so a borrowed phone or a glance over your shoulder reveals nothing.
Security, stated plainly
Messages are encrypted in transit and stored on Bloom Space's servers under strict access controls, so that Trust & Safety can act on reports of harm. They are not end-to-end encrypted — we would rather say that clearly than imply otherwise. Bloom Space does not proactively read your DMs and never sells their content.
Your persona, your inbox
Each persona has its own conversations. Switch personas and your inbox switches with you, so the people who know work-you never end up in the same list as the people who know 2am-you.
Messages: questions, answered
- Are Bloom Space messages end-to-end encrypted?
- No. Messages are encrypted in transit and stored under strict access controls so reports of harm can be acted on. Bloom Space does not proactively read DMs and never uses them for advertising.
- What is a sealed chat?
- A conversation locked with a PIN chosen by both people. It appears blank until the PIN is entered.
- Can strangers message me?
- Teen accounts (13–17) cannot receive messages from people they don't follow. Anyone can block or report an account and mute a conversation.
- Does Bloom Space tell people when I take a screenshot?
- Yes. In private conversations a visible notice is posted into the chat when a screenshot is taken.
